By giving to Lumen Christi, you are affirming that your faith is a priority. It is a spiritual act of gratitude and commitment to the Church. It also makes you an active participant in the saving mission of our parish. Our ministries depend on regular and faithful giving to be able to carry on their important work.
Contribution Envelopes You can mail them or drop them off in the collection basket at any Mass.
Many parishioners prefer to use weekly envelopes.
These envelopes are sent automatically to your home on a recurring basis.
If you would prefer to use another form of payment or just don’t want the envelopes, please contact us so that we can keep costs low and save paper too!
IRA & Stock IRA If you are 73 or older you are likely aware you must take Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) annually from your IRA accounts. Did you know that if you donate all, or a portion, of your RMD directly to Lumen Christi your contribution could be tax-free, and not considered as income, regardless of whether you itemize or take the standard deduction? This is known as a Qualified Charitable Contribution and allows you to make a charitable contribution directly from your IRA. You can fulfill all or a part of your annual pledge to the parish, while possibly limiting your tax liability.
Steps:
Contact your investment advisor and provide them with LC's name, address, EIN, and the amount you would like to contribute.
Contact Jane Bartlett in the parish office and provide your name, the name of your investment firm, and the amount of your donation. She will watch for the check and make sure your contribution is recorded against your pledge.
Stock We do accept direct contributions of stock. This can be a way to minimize capital gain taxes especially on investments you have held for a long time. For questions on this process check with your investment professional and Jane Bartlett in the parish office.
All envelope and offertory pledges, as well as unrestricted gifts to the parish go toward the general operating budget of the parish. This provides for all ministries of the parish (i.e., School, Catholic Formation, Human Concerns, etc.) as well as lighting, heat, snowplowing, etc. Prayerfully consider contributing 2 or 3% of your household income or a suggested minimum of $1,200 annually. Based on our parish expenses and the number of households, our costs are approximately $1,200 per family.
