Safe Environment Week 2026
Annual Mass of Atonement
Rosary for Healing and Protection at 5:15 PM | Mass at 6 PM
The annual Mass of Atonement will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist, Twin Lakes. "As we gather once again for the annual Mass of Atonement, I invite you to join with me in turning to our loving God in prayer. In our time together, we will not only seek the grace of conversion for our own hearts but ask for renewed spirits to continue the work of healing within the Church on behalf of our sisters and brothers most deeply affected by abuse. Did You Know: The Safe Environment Program in the Catholic Church is not only making our parishes and schools safe places for our children, youth, and vulnerable adults. We hope that all clergy, employees, and volunteers’ task themselves with protecting the young and vulnerable in their workplaces, neighborhoods, communities, and even their own homes. Our goal is greater than just safe environments within the four walls of our parishes and schools, but safer communities for all God’s children to live, learn and grow.

Safeguarding All of God's Family
Lumen Christi is committed to providing a safe environment for all. In compliance with the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, all volunteers over the age of 18 must attend a (free, one time) Safe Environment Education Session, pass a criminal background check and sign the Code of Ethical Standards for Church Leaders. In addition, it is our goal to have ALL parents and adults attend this class to increase awareness and safety. This would also qualify all parishioners to volunteer with any child or youth ministry program in any capacity (even as simple as checking students in, serving as a hall monitor or helping with Children's Liturgy of the Word). -
Safe Environment Training - IN PERSONThursday, November 6 | 6-9 PM | St. James Hall
We will be hosting another Safe Environment session on Thursday, November 6 from 6-9 PM in St. James Hall. To register, visit milwaukee.cmgconnect.org or the parish website. Registration for this session will close 24 hours prior to the start time of the session. Please contact Karen Bersch in the parish office with any questions. Childcare will not be available.
