The Scriptures this week of Wisdom, Hebrews, and Luke, have a central theme. Can you see it? Most times it is difficult to dig deep and see the commonality in all three, but this week they center on our growing relationship with God and with others in our community.
God speaks to His people and reassures them they are blessed to be chosen to be His own. As we know though, there were many challenging moments in biblical history where a new covenant had to be formed as people slowly walked away from the Almighty.
Scriptures tells us God's people are active personal agents for Him who are in personal relationship with each other and the community. This brings the question to us of: How are we involved in serving our community and with one another? Are we on the sidelines or on the field? Do we promote the community and are involved? Remember, all are welcome and that also means to participate in our active community. Bottom line, we need you to help us continue to grow this community of Christ in Lumen Christi.
The Holy Spirit does His work in us when we honor Our Lord by living the Sacramental life and bringing Christ to others by His very presence in us. Reconciliation, prayer, participation in the Liturgy, and receiving of the Eucharist only enhances our desire to serve. Wisdom and Hebrews today are perfect examples of obedience, worship, honor and faith. We can’t serve others if we have work to do on ourselves. That not only applies to our parish community, but spills over to our family and professional work life.
God continues to give His abundance and love to all of us. Do we pass it forward to others so they too can be aware of the same gifts that God gives them? Active participation in building our relationship with Our Lord can only produce a natural giving to others. We are blessed to have an active, spiritual, and giving community in Lumen Christi. Remember, all are ALWAYS welcome.
