A service and leadership initiative by teens, for teens!
WOW stands for Walk On Water, highlighting our Faith in Christ and our aspiration to follow in His footsteps, particularly in the way He loved and served others. Jesus told His disciples, "Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant…. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.’” (Mark 10:42-45)
So far, the WOW Project is composed of 10 student leaders (and several adult mentors) who coordinate opportunities for high school students in Mequon to come together as a community to serve the community. We partner with several local charitable organizations, and also aim to serve the parish and individuals in the Mequon area and beyond.
We launched our first service project this spring, working with the high schoolers in Catholic Formation to make over 300 sandwiches for Guest House of Milwaukee. We have plans to increase our impact this summer and through the school year with various opportunities for students to get involved.
