First Eucharist Celebrations
The First Eucharist celebrations were beautiful! The children and their families worked hard to prepare for this beautiful sacrament. Along with the white dresses, fancy shirts, and ties came hearts that were ready for this sacrament. The children were excited to receive Jesus’ most precious blood and body. These children understood how blessed this sacrament was because of several things:
Parents read passages of the Bible with the children and then helped them understand God’s words.
Parents attended a retreat and made sure the children were at every event.
Teachers and Catechists helped these children understand the importance of this sacrament and how it fits into their daily lives.
Our whole congregation helped by modeling each week how important Mass and the Eucharist are to the church.
It does take a village to show our young children how important Mass and Communion are to the Catholic faith.
I feel blessed to be working in such a wonderful and prayerful community.
Mother's Day Celebration
What a joyous occasion we had at the first annual Mother’s Day celebration!
There was fancy food in a tea room setting and delicious homemade goodies. The Families made decades of rosaries at all appropriate age levels, and a Mary garden they could have all summer long. We prayed a decade of the rosary in church and offered flowers to the Virgin Mary. Finally the children were helped by the junior high youth group and made a very special gift for Mother’s Day.
There were moms and children of all ages, from infants to 90. It was a special way to honor Mom this Mother’s Day weekend.
Thank you to all the staff and volunteers, from the ladies in the kitchen, the people who brought baked goods and the many volunteers in the craft areas.
