You have probably noticed this logo in the bulletin, the first event is this Sunday 9/28 at All Saints. You may have had many thoughts about it. These thoughts may help to change your mind
…where is it located? Isn’t that far to go?”
…that is such a long event. I can't go the whole time.”
…I can’t make every event in the series, so maybe I won’t go?”
….I won’t know anyone there, and I don’t want to show up alone?”
Let me see if I can provide different thoughts:
Mequon residents have the luxury of 4 grocery stores less than 5 miles from each other. Many people in WI do not have that possibility. The distance from Lumen Christi to All Saints is ONLY 12 miles. Need help getting there contact Nikki D’Cruz at [email protected].
If attending the Mass at 11 AM and staying until the end at 2:30 PM is not possible, come when you can. Everyone will be blessed to be with you for whatever amount of time. Free will offering lunch will be served, so you will not go hungry.
The series consists of stand alone events. You do not have to participate in them all. It is encouraged, as each one will bring about a new perspective on the issue.
If you do not want to go alone, just know that several people from Lumen Christi are going! You may know someone, or feel free to bring a friend. OR, feel free to meet a new friend there. All people who are registered are just like you: they are interested in the topic. All ages are welcome, so bring the kids.
I hope this helps you decide to attend the speaker event this Sunday 9/28/25, "Give
Us This Day Our Daily Bread" coordinated by the Tri-Parish Racial Justice Collaborative of Lumen Christi, Holy Angels and All Saints.
If you want to know what the Church Leadership says about the issues we will be discussing, see below:
Archbishop Grob recently commented: "As followers of Jesus, we are called to see His face in the poor, the hungry, and the marginalized. Food insecurity is not just a social issue, it is a moral and spiritual crisis that challenges us to respond with compassion, justice, and love."
In the words of Pope Leo XIII: “Once the demands of necessity and propriety have been met, the rest that one owns belongs to the poor.” And as Pope Francis reminds us, “There is no social or moral justification , no justification whatsoever, for lack of food.”
Catholic Social Teaching reminds us that caring for those in need is central to living the Gospel. Let us pray, learn, and act together trusting that even small steps taken in love can transform lives. Let us also ask ourselves: How is God calling me to respond? Where can I serve? Whom am I being asked to see anew?”
