Three high school missionaries from Lumen Christi headed to Kenosha, WI for a 6-day mission trip July 13th-18th, joining 20+ missionaries in the outreach program Love Begins Here, an Archdiocese-based initiative that seeks to serve those in need in our very own communities.
This week of service was extremely blessed with encountering and serving many wonderful individuals, doing big and small things with great love, learning meaningful lessons from those they served and from the core team missionaries, doing all kinds of fun games and activities, spending intentional time in personal prayer, having deep conversations, making new and lasting friendships, and overall being open and attentive to each person they met.
Read below some reflections from our missionaries!
"On Love Begins Here, I made a lot of new friends and was surrounded by an amazing community the whole week. I encountered God through the people I met, especially the head of the Italian American Society, Marty, who not only worked alongside us as we served there, but said we gave him hope for the future. My favorite parts of LBH were our beach sunrise/beach time, and getting to worship with other participants who could sing and play piano while I played guitar." - Lanie
"On Love Begins Here, I learned to put others before my own comfort and desire to relax, because that's what God would do. I encountered God in Confession and Adoration when I truly felt His love and forgiveness for the first time. My favorite part of LBH was the connections I made." - Neela
