Catholic moral and social teaching reflects the deep biblical foundation of Catholic social thought, especially the commandment to "love your neighbor as yourself" (Mark 12:31). Catholic doctrine consistently affirms that our love for God must be expressed in concrete action toward others—especially the poor, the marginalized, and the vulnerable. The obligation to love and serve others flows directly from our love of God. We cannot claim to love God while ignoring the needs of our neighbors."
